Description:
(3E)-4-Phenylbut-3-en-2-ol is a carbonyl reductase inhibitor that has been shown to have antioxidant activity. It inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species and reduces carbonyl groups to alcohols. (3E)-4-Phenylbut-3-en-2-ol has been shown to reduce diabetic neuropathy in vitro, and also inhibits monoamine reuptake in vivo. This compound is of interest as a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of diabetic neuropathy.
