Product Information
HO-PEG13-OH is a cross-linking agent that is used in the production of pharmaceutical formulations. It is a chloroether with a polyethylene glycol (PEG) side chain. HO-PEG13-OH interacts with functional groups on proteins to form covalent bonds between two or more macromolecules. This process, called crosslinking, stabilizes the protein and reduces its tendency to denature. Crosslinking agents are often applied to pharmaceutical formulations as well as other products such as cosmetics and pesticides. The use of HO-PEG13-OH has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. The mechanism of action for this compound is not yet known, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit cell proliferation or induce apoptosis.
