(2R)-5,7-Dihydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2,3-dihydro-4H-chromen-4-one is a flavonoid compound that has been shown to have antioxidant and antiinflammatory activities. It is found in the fruit peel of citrus fruits such as oranges and grapefruits. The main mechanism of action for (2R)-5,7-Dihydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2,3-dihydro-4H-chromen-4-one is inhibiting the activity of toll like receptor 4 (TLR4). The compound also inhibits the activity of pglycoprotein (Pgp) and may be useful for treating bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis.
