Description

Vanitiolide is a solubilizer that can be used in pharmaceuticals to promote the dissolution of poorly water-soluble drugs. It is an antisolvent that has been shown to increase the solubility of sodium citrate, which is an occlusive and reconstituted drug. The high values seen with vanitiolide are due to its ability to dissolve sugar alcohols, such as mannitol and xylitol, as well as other functional groups such as amides and esters. Vanitiolide is used in oral dosage forms, where it acts as a diluent or insoluble filler.
