Description:
4-(2-Furyl)phenylmethanol is a small molecule that has been shown to inhibit the activity of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, an enzyme that converts glucose-6-phosphate into ribose-5-phosphate. This inhibition can be used to treat trypanosomal infections. 4-(2-Furyl)phenylmethanol may also have potential as a drug target for other diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
