Product Information
2-(4-Cyanophenyl)benzothiazole is a chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of heterocycles. It is an excellent substrate for reactions with aldehydes and ketones to form 2-substituted benzothiazoles. These reactions are catalyzed by cytochrome P450 enzymes, which are located in the endoplasmic reticulum of cells. The reaction yields can be increased by using high concentrations of aldehydes and ketones, and at low pH values, such as 4 to 5. A disulfide bond cleavage mechanism has been proposed for these reactions, involving the formation of reactive intermediates that react with the thiourea to produce an intermediate thiol which then reacts with the carbonyl group to form a thioketone, or reacts with the aldehyde or ketone to form an intermediate imine which reacts with the thiourea to produce an intermediate sulfinic
