Product Information
Rutacridone is an acridone that has been shown to inhibit some enzyme activities in tissue cultures, including tyrosinase and trypsin. It also inhibits the growth of typhimurium in a dose-dependent manner. Rutacridone is a basic compound with a four-membered heterocyclic ring system containing one oxygen atom and three nitrogen atoms. It inhibits the activity of p-450 enzymes by binding to the heme group of cytochrome P450 reductase. This binding prevents the formation of an active enzyme-substrate complex, which results in inhibition of lipid peroxidation and protein synthesis. The acetate extract from rutacridone has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on cell culture, histochemical staining, and dry weight.
