Product Information
1,1'-Biisoquinoline is a heterocycle with nucleophilic properties. It has been shown to bind to the ns3 protease and epidermal growth factor, which are important for cancer and cellular growth. 1,1'-Biisoquinoline also binds to epidermal growth factor receptors on the cell surface, inhibiting their activation. The compound has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in animal models of skin inflammation by blocking an enzyme called cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) from producing prostaglandins that cause pain and swelling. 1,1'-Biisoquinoline has also been shown to bind water molecules, resulting in a blue color. This compound is able to form coordination complexes with metals such as copper or zinc through its nitrogen atoms. These complexes are not soluble in organic solvents and are typically used as pigments or catalysts in the chemical industry.
