5-Nitro-2-(4-chlorophenylthio)benzaldehyde is a chemical compound that contains two substitutions, one in the aromatic ring and another on the benzene ring. It can be synthesized by reductive elimination with solvents such as ethanol or acetone. 5-Nitro-2-(4-chlorophenylthio)benzaldehyde has a raman spectrum with a strong axial mode at 1614 cm−1 and its frequencies are in the range of 10 cm−1 to 20 cm−1. It has an anion of nitrate and its parameters are in the range of -5 to -7. The product can be activated with fluoride and heated to yield a coproduct containing 2-aminoethanethiol. This product can be purified using organic solvents such as chloroform, ethyl acetate, or methanol.
