Product Information
- Methyl 3-trimethylsilylpropynoate
- Methyl 3-(Trimethylsilyl)Prop-2-Ynoate
Methyl 3-(trimethylsilyl)propiolate is a thionyl chloride derivative that is used as a reagent in the synthesis of organic compounds. It can be synthesized by reacting chloroform with formaldehyde and nitrous acid. The product of this reaction contains a formyl group, which undergoes dehydration to form an alcohol. The alcohol reacts with trimethylsilylacetylene to produce the desired product, methyl 3-(trimethylsilyl)propiolate. This reagent is used in the synthesis of amines, which are used in the production of plastics and detergents. In addition, it can be used to produce chloroformates for use in chemical reactions involving amines or other organic compounds. The product does not have any commercial applications other than being used as a reagent in organic synthesis. Methyl 3-(trimethylsilyl)propiolate has been found to pollute water at high concentrations and
