7-Methoxy-4-chromanone is an analog of etoposide, a chemotherapeutic drug that has shown efficacy in the treatment of epidermoid carcinoma. 7-Methoxy-4-chromanone is a gaseous agent that can be used as a prodrug to etoposide by activation with esterases. It also has anti-cancer properties and can act as an effective chemotherapeutic agent. 7-Methoxy-4-chromanone may have some activity against cancer cell lines, but it does not have any effect on normal cells.
