Product Information
Biphenyl-3-carbonyl chloride is a cytostatic drug that inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells by binding to galectin. It is used in combination with other drugs to treat cancers that have developed resistance to cytotoxic drugs. Biphenyl-3-carbonyl chloride binds to galectin by competitive inhibition, which blocks the ability of galectin to bind and activate its receptor on the cell surface. This prevents cell growth and division and induces apoptosis. Biphenyl-3-carbonyl chloride also has synergistic effects when used with other chemotherapeutic agents, such as galactose, which are able to inhibit the synthesis of nucleic acids in cancer cells.
