Product Information
Benzoic acid, 4,4-(9,10-anthracenediyl)bis-, is a luminophore that can be used for chemiluminescence. It can be deprotonated to form a cation and emit light when reacted with an electron donor. The emission intensity is dependent on the number of benzoic acid units in the molecule. This compound has been shown to react with various electron donors such as nitrobenzene or ammonium sulfide. Benzoic acid, 4,4-(9,10-anthracenediyl)bis-, has also been shown to undergo a stepwise reaction with an exogenous electron acceptor such as oxygen or hydrogen peroxide. The emission spectrum of this compound is dependent on its functional groups and the density of these groups in the molecule. This molecule has been used as a framework for new materials in electrochemiluminescence applications.
