Product Information
6-Bromo-5-nitroisatin is a natural product that has been shown to have anti-glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3) activity. It was first isolated from the bark of the neem tree and has been shown to inhibit GSK3 in vitro, which is an enzyme implicated in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. 6-Bromo-5-nitroisatin also inhibits glycogen synthase, which is a key enzyme in glycogen synthesis. This natural product binds to the ATP binding site of GSK3 and prevents it from phosphorylating glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3) at serine residue 9, inhibiting its activity.
