Description:

6,8-Dichloro-2-methyl-quinoline-4-carboxylic acid (6,8-DCA) is a regulatory fatty acid that has been shown to be effective in treating obesity. 6,8-DCA is an inhibitor of lipolysis and may be a useful treatment for obesity. The mechanism by which 6,8-DCA works is not fully understood but it has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes that regulate lipid metabolism. This compound is also believed to reduce appetite and increase energy expenditure, although this has not yet been proven in humans. 6,8-DCA can be used as a biodiesel fuel additive with acidic or neutral pH values. It can also be used as a catalyst for the methyl esterification process when combined with an acid catalyst in the presence of water at room temperature.
