Description:

Pisiferic Acid is a natural compound found in the bark of the Cupressaceae family. Pisiferic acid has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit and inhibiting ribosome function. It also inhibits lipid biosynthesis and may be useful for cancer treatment due to its ability to inhibit proliferation of cervical cancer cells. The pisiferic acid analog, dehydroabietic acid, has been synthesized for use as a medicine for the treatment of cancer. This analog was shown to have anti-tumor effects on mouse liver cells in vitro and in vivo.
