2-(3,5-Dichlorophenoxy)ethan-1-amine is a metabolite of a scabies treatment drug. It is a phenoxyacetic acid and has the following substituents: 3,5-dichloro-2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)phenyl. The compound is an inhibitor of bacterial protein synthesis, but it also inhibits mammalian protein synthesis. Scabies are caused by infestation with the mite Sarcoptes scabiei. The mites burrow under the skin and cause intense itching and irritation. 2-(3,5-Dichlorophenoxy)ethan-1-amine has been shown to be effective against TUBER SCABIES.
