- Naphthalene, 2-iodo-6-methoxy-
- 6-Iodo-2-methoxynaphthalene
2-Iodo-6-methoxynaphthalene is a catalysed, unsymmetrical, reactive compound that can be used to generate a variety of other compounds. It can be used in the cross-coupling reaction with phosphine ligands to generate hydroxylated products, and it can also be used in the preparation of olefins. The 2-iodo-6-methoxynaphthalene molecule contains a cavity that can be orientated in different ways so that the desired product is produced. For example, when the molecule is oriented so that the iodine atom is on one side, then an erythro configuration results (2-iodo-6-methoxynaphthalene). When it is oriented so that the iodine atom is on both sides, then an threo configuration results (2,6-dimethoxybenzaldehyde). This molecule has two possible isomers: 2-iodo-
