It has been shown to be able to transport electrons and react at electrode surfaces in electrochemical reactions with temperatures of up to 700 degrees Celsius. This material can also be used as an electron source for X-ray crystallography studies. 2,5-Di-1H -imidazol-1-yl-1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid layers are also able to form frameworks that have been shown to be stable up to 500 degrees Celsius.
