Product Information
Ethyl 4-oxo-1-phenylpiperidine-3-carboxylate is a drug that is used for the treatment of schizophrenia. It is classified as an antipsychotic agent and is a dopamine antagonist. This drug has been shown to be effective in animal studies at doses of 10 mg/kg and 25 mg/kg, with the latter dose being more effective. Ethyl 4-oxo-1-phenylpiperidine-3-carboxylate binds to dopamine receptors, which are located on the surface of nerve cells in the brain. It blocks those receptors, thereby preventing dopamine from attaching to them and activating them. This prevents dopamine from stimulating nerve cells and reduces psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations or delusions.
