Germacrone 4,5-epoxide is a natural product that inhibits the activity of aromatica (e.g., rhizomes) and curcuma aromatica. It is a noncytotoxic compound with inhibitory activities against rhizomes. Germacrone 4,5-epoxide has been shown to be an effective anti-inflammatory agent in vitro at noncytotoxic concentrations. This compound binds to the RNA polymerase II complex and prevents transcription of inflammatory cytokines. Germacrone 4,5-epoxide also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL1β. This product can be used as a natural medicine for inflammation treatment.
