Product Information
- 5-Carboxyindole-2-Carboxylic Acid
Indole-2,5-dicarboxylic acid (IDCA) is a molecule found in the environment that has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth. IDCA binds to an enzyme called binder and prevents it from binding to chloride ions. This inhibits bacterial growth and leads to death. IDCA has been shown to be effective against Gram-negative bacteria including Klebsiella aerogenes and Enterobacter cloacae. It also inhibits growth of Staphylococcus aureus, which is resistant to many antibiotics.
