Product Information
Epigallocatechin-4-O-β-glucopyranoside is a phenolic compound found in plants. It is the most abundant catechin in green tea, where it constitutes approximately 20% of the dry weight. Epigallocatechin-4-O-β-glucopyranoside has been detected in fossilized leaves from the Cretaceous period. The systematic name for this molecule is 4-(2′,3′,4′,5′,6'-pentahydroxyhexanoyl)oxychalcone. This molecule has been detected by mass spectrometry methods and identified by malonate electrospray ionization and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Epigallocatechin-4-O-β-glucopyranoside has been found to be a precursor for sciadopitysin, an important diterpene that has been chemically synthesized.
