- [2,2'-Bipyridine]-6,6'-Dicarboxylic Acid, Dimethyl Ester
- 2,2'-Bipyridine-6,6'-dicarboxylate de diméthyle
- Dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridin-6,6'-dicarboxylat
Dimethyl 2,2'-bipyridine-6,6'-dicarboxylate is a ligand that coordinates to metal ions. It can be synthesized from the reaction of sodium tetrafluoroborate and pyridine. Dimethyl 2,2'-bipyridine-6,6'-dicarboxylate crystallizes as a chelating coordination complex with an asymmetric unit composed of two molecules of dimethyl 2,2'-bipyridine-6,6'-dicarboxylate and one metal ion. The metal ion can be either copper or nickel. The ligand binds to the metal ion via nitrogen atoms on the pyridyl rings. X-ray diffraction studies have been used to determine the x-ray structures of this compound and confirm its chemical composition.
