Tris[4-(2-thienyl)phenyl]amine is a molecule that can be used in the Suzuki coupling reaction to convert an alkyl halide to an aryl halide. The efficiency of this reaction has been shown to depend on the device used and the voltage applied. The electrochemical polymerization of this molecule has been studied using both voltammetry and spin resonance, which showed it had a red shift from 1.9 eV to 2.6 eV due to the methyl groups on its ring structure. This molecule can be used as an acceptor for polymer films that are activated by exposure to light or heat. Tris[4-(2-thienyl)phenyl]amine is also able to undergo electropolymerization, which results in polymers with high molecular weights and high morphologies.
