2-(2-(1H-Indol-3-yl)acetamido)pentanedioic acid is a structural analogue of indole-3-acetic acid, a natural plant hormone that regulates auxin levels in plants. 2-(2-(1H-Indol-3-yl)acetamido)pentanedioic acid interacts with the brassica family of plants, which includes cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower. Brassica plants have been shown to be resistant to many pathogens when treated with this compound. In addition, 2-(2-(1H-indol-3-yl)acetamido)pentanedioic acid has been found to regulate gene expression in the transcriptome of Arabidopsis thaliana.
