2-(4-Chloro-phenyl)-3-piperazin-1-ylmethyl-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme fatty acid synthase. It is a redox active compound that can reversibly bind to the mitochondrial membrane potential. The hydroxyl group in 2-(4-chloro-phenyl)-3-piperazin-1-ylmethyl imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine has been shown to be involved in the binding process with the target enzymes. 2-(4-chloro phenyl) -3 piperazin 1 ylmethyl imidazo[1,2 a] pyridine has been shown to inhibit cervical cancer and skin cancer cells by inducing apoptosis.
