Product Information
Adipic acid-13C6 is a metabolite of the amino acid adipic acid. It is a component of the metabolic pathway that converts lysine, an essential amino acid, to glutamic acid. The synthesis of this compound is dependent on the availability of 13C-labeled carbon and requires de novo fatty acid biosynthesis. Adipic acid-13C6 has been shown to be associated with keratoconical degeneration in patients with butyric acid metabolism disorder. This compound may also be used as a marker for collagen degradation in skin disorders such as cutaneous lupus erythematosus, lichen sclerosus, and dermatomyositis.
