4-(4-Methoxyphenyl)thienodipyridine-2-carboxamide (MTDPC) is a cyclase inhibitor that blocks intracellular cGMP synthesis. MTDPC blocks the production of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and IL-8 in human cells, which are related to a number of autoimmune diseases. MTDPC has been shown to inhibit the formation of osteoclasts, which are cells that break down bone tissue and release substances that stimulate inflammation. This drug also inhibits the growth factor TNFα and suppresses bowel disease in mice by regulating cytokine genes.
