Product Information

Name:
DGAT-1 inhibitor 2
Description:

DGAT-1 inhibitor 2 is an oxadiazole derivative that has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the DGAT-1 enzyme in humans. This compound has been shown to have a permeability profile in animals that is similar to meglumine, a known DGAT-1 inhibitor. The compound also binds to elements on the surface of cells that are thought to be important for the catalytic activity of DGAT-1 enzymes, and has demonstrated attenuation of obesity and metabolic syndrome in animal models.

DGAT-1 inhibitor 2 is most likely active against obesity by inhibiting the synthesis of triglycerides from glucose in adipose tissue. DGAT-1 inhibitors are also thought to have potential therapeutic applications for diabetes mellitus type II and other conditions associated with insulin resistance.
