Product Information
Hepcidin-25 is a peptide hormone that regulates iron metabolism and cellular immunity. Hepcidin-25 is synthesized in the liver and other tissues, such as the kidneys, spleen, and bone marrow, and circulates in the blood bound to hepcidin. It is released into the blood when iron stores are depleted or when there is an inflammatory response. Hepcidin-25 has been shown to be an inhibitor of receptor activation by binding to the extracellular domain of its receptors on cells. This binding prevents ligand binding and activates downstream signaling pathways.
