Product Information
5-(Bromomethyl)-1-methyl-4-nitro-1H-imidazole is a prodrug that is converted to 5-(bromomethyl)-1-methyl-4-nitroimidazole by bromination. The radical intermediate can then react with DNA, which results in multikinase inhibition. This bioreductive prodrug has been used as an efficient and selective inhibitor of multikinase enzymes such as Aurora kinases, cyclin dependent kinases and AKT. 5-(Bromomethyl)-1-methyl-4-nitroimidazole has also been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the growth of tumor cells in culture.
