Product Information

Name:
Phenylglyoxylic acid-d5
Description:

Phenylglyoxylic acid-d5 is a metabolite that can be detected in urine samples. It is used for the detection of metabolic disorders, such as diabetes and kidney disease. Phenylglyoxylic acid-d5 is an analog of phenylglyoxal and has been shown to be a precursor to glycine. The conversion of this molecule to glycine has been shown to be stimulated by the enzyme cystathionine b-lyase. This molecule has also been shown to inhibit the activity of D-amino acid oxidase and D-amino acid dehydrogenase, which are enzymes involved in the degradation of amino acids. These results suggest that phenylglyoxylic acid-d5 may play a role in metabolism and the production of other molecules that are important for normal bodily function.
