Description:
L-Xylulose 5-phosphate lithium salt is a 6-phosphate of L-xylulose that is structurally similar to ribose 5-phosphate. It is a substrate for the general enzyme phosphofructokinase, which catalyzes the conversion of fructose 6-phosphate to fructose 1,6-bisphosphate in glycolysis. L-Xylulose 5-phosphate lithium salt has been shown to be an inhibitor of pentose phosphate pathway enzymes, including transketolase and transaldolase. L-Xylulose 5-phosphate lithium salt binds to the active site residues of these enzymes and inhibits their function.
