Product Information

Name:
13-Hydroxy-9(Z),11(E)-octadecadienoic acid
Description:

13-Hydroxy-9(Z),11(E)-octadecadienoic acid is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that has been shown to inhibit the activity of a number of enzymes such as phospholipase A2, phospholipase C, and cyclooxygenase. The inhibition of these enzymes may be due to the inhibition of arachidonic acid metabolism. 13-Hydroxy-9(Z),11(E)-octadecadienoic acid is also a potent inhibitor of cellular physiology in polymorphonuclear leukocytes and inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species. This compound has been shown to be effective at treating eye disorders by inhibiting erythrocyte adhesion and leukocyte accumulation.
