Behenyl acrylate is a low-energy, fatty acid monomer that can be used to produce polymers with high resistance and good detergent compositions. Behenyl acrylate is an unsaturated alkyl that can polymerize covalently with other monomers, such as acrylic acid, to form polyacrylates. The resulting polymers are then used in various applications including paints, coatings, and plastics. In order to produce a polymer of behenyl acrylate, the reaction requires activation energies of 35 kcal/mol or less.
