BTR-1 is a protein that is expressed in certain insect species. BTR-1 has a physiological function in insects and has been shown to be involved in DNA replication, cell cycle analysis, and anticancer activity. BTR-1 also has the ability to modulate the ATP-binding cassette transporter. The crystal structure of BTR-1 was determined by molecular modelling and showed that it has two domains: one consisting of two alpha helices and the other consisting of three beta sheets. The alpha helix domain contains a conserved ATP binding site, while the beta sheet domain contains an anticancer drug binding site.
