tert-Butyl (4-nitrophenyl)carbamate is a low yield chemical intermediate that is used in the synthesis of elinogrel. It is produced by the catalytic hydrogenation of tert-butyl 4-nitrophenyl carbonate with palladium on charcoal catalyst. This reaction requires high temperatures and large-scale equipment. The tert-butyl carbamate can be synthesized using an organic solvent and a catalytic hydrogenation process. The tert-butyl carbamate reacts with potassium phenolate to form elinogrel, which is a potent antithrombotic agent.
