Product Information
9,10-Diethynylanthracene is a vinylene molecule that has been used in the fabrication of photovoltaic devices. The photophysical properties of 9,10-diethynylanthracene are dependent on the wavelength of light and morphology of the device. A reaction system with 9,10-diethynylanthracene and electron donors such as phenylsilanes or organosilicon molecules have been shown to produce anthracene derivatives. Anthracene derivatives serve as acceptors in organic semiconductors. These materials have been used extensively in organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and solar cells.
9,10-Diethynylanthracene has also been investigated for use as an artificial photosynthetic antenna. It absorbs ultraviolet radiation to generate electrons that can be used for photoelectrochemical hydrogen production or reducing water to produce hydrogen gas without using expensive metal catalysts. This process may be useful for applications
