4-{5-[(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)methylidene]-4-oxo-2-sulfanylidene-1,3-thiazolidin-3-yl}butanoic acid is a potent inhibitor of the insulin receptor signaling pathway. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo without affecting normal cells. The mechanism of action is thought to be through inhibition of β-catenin, which leads to inhibition of soluble guanylate cyclase and natural compounds that regulate cellular signaling pathways. This drug also inhibits h2O2 induced apoptosis in cancer cells.
