2-Amino-6-chloroquinoline (2ACQ) is a biomolecular compound that was originally synthesized in a stereoselective process. It is an acetonitrile derivative of the aminoquinoline family, which are nitrogen heterocycles that contain two benzene rings and a pyridine ring. 2ACQ has been shown to be able to reduce nitrophenyl carbanions and undergo reductive cyclization, forming alkaloids with a bicyclic structure. This chemistry can also be used to generate compounds with other structures, such as thiophene or indole derivatives.
