Bis(4-bromophenyl)diphenylsilane (BBDPS) is a tetraphenyl derivative that has been used as an efficient material for organic electronic devices. It can be applied in the fabrication of organic thin films and has been shown to enhance the transport of molecules in organic semiconductor films. BBDPS has also been used as an exciplex, which is a system composed of two excited states with different energies. The formation of this state leads to the emission of light at longer wavelengths than those emitted by either molecule alone. This property makes BBDPS useful for photophysical studies. FTIR spectroscopy has revealed that BBDPS is moderately soluble in a variety of solvents, including chloroform, dichloromethane, and methanol.
