Product Information
- Alllyltriphenylsilane
- Triphenyl(Prop-2-En-1-Yl)Silane
Allyltriphenylsilane is a reactive allylsilane that has been used for the selective allylation of electron-deficient molecules. The reaction is highly selective and proceeds with high yields. Allyltriphenylsilane can be used to coat silicon surfaces or as a coating for metal parts in order to protect them from corrosion. This process is often done by dipping the metal part into a solution of allyltriphenylsilane and then heating it to convert the allysilanes to their corresponding silanes. The allyltriphenylsilane reacts with the metal surface, forming a new metal-allysilane bond. Allyltriphenylsilane also undergoes bond cleavage reactions with ethyl diazoacetate, which leads to its conversion into an ethoxycarbonyl compound. These reactions are reversible and allyltriphenylsilane can be regenerated through hydrolysis.
