- (2-Methyl-2-propen-1-yl)succinic anhydride
- 3-(2-Methylprop-2-En-1-Yl)Dihydrofuran-2,5-Dione
2-Methyl-2-propenyl succinic anhydride is a chemical intermediate that is used in the synthesis of detergents and textile chemicals. It reacts with amines to produce alkyl succinates, which are useful as control agents for oil solutions and detergents. 2-Methyl-2-propenyl succinic anhydride is also used as a crosslinking agent in the synthesis of polymers that have high viscosity or good water resistance. 2-Methyl-2-propenyl succinic anhydride can be synthesized by reacting methyl acrylate with hydrochloric acid and ethylene diamine in a controlled manner. This reaction is catalyzed by acids or bases, such as inorganic acids or metal alkalis. The reaction mechanism for this process involves the formation of an ester bond between 2 methyl groups on the methyl acrylate and the amino group from ethylene diamine, forming 2 methylene groups
