Product Information
- 4-Acetamido-2-aminobenzoic acid
- Benzoic Acid, 4-(Acetylamino)-2-Amino-
4-Acetylamino-2-amino-benzoic acid is a mutagen that binds to copper ions and forms a copper complex. This compound has shown to have inhibitory effect on the metabolic pathway of carcinogenic compounds, such as 3-methylcholanthrene. 4-Acetylamino-2-amino-benzoic acid also inhibits the activity of enzymes, such as carboxy, chloride, and acetylation. It is metabolized by cytochrome P450 and can be converted into cyanuric acid or an alcohol. 4-Acetylamino-2-amino-benzoic acid has been found to be carcinogenic in rats and may cause cancer in humans, although the evidence is inconclusive.
