3-(2,5-Dichlorophenyl)propanoic acid is an analog of glycine with a cyano group. It has IC50 values of 0.5 μM for cortical membranes and 2.0 μM for rat brain membranes. 3-(2,5-Dichlorophenyl)propanoic acid is a potent agonist at the glycine binding site on the NMDA receptor and has been shown to protect against glutamate toxicity in vitro. This drug has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in vivo in rats with adjuvant arthritis.
