Product Information
6-Prenylapigenin is a polyphenol found in plants and has shown potential as an anti-cancer drug. It has been shown to inhibit the mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) of human colon cancer cells and induce apoptotic cell death. 6-Prenylapigenin also significantly reduces the viability of cancer cells in vitro, which may be due to its ability to inhibit angiogenesis, the process by which new blood vessels form from pre-existing ones. 6-Prenylapigenin has been shown to have antiangiogenic properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit acetylcholinesterase activity. The structure of this compound resembles that of geranyl pyrophosphate, a chemical that is essential for the synthesis of sterols and other terpenes in plants. 6-Prenylapigenin inhibits bacterial growth by interfering with microbial metabolism and preventing the formation of enzymes necessary for energy production.
