Description:
4-Oxazol-2-yl-phenol is a potent and selective hydrolase inhibitor. This compound has been shown to have the ability to inhibit cellular leukotriene A4 hydrolase, which is responsible for the metabolism of arachidonic acid to leukotriene A4. The optimization of this compound has been shown by the introduction of a spacer between the phenolic ring and the oxazole moiety. This modification increases potency and cellular activity without any loss in selectivity. 4-Oxazol-2-yl-phenol also inhibits both cyclooxygenases COX1 and COX2 with IC50 values of 3.3 μM and 2.3 μM respectively, making it a promising treatment for inflammation.
