Description:
4'-Methoxyspiro[cyclopentane-1,3'-indolin]-2'-one is a potent activator of ion channels. It binds to the extracellular domain of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor and activates it. This compound has been shown to inhibit the opening of potassium channels and calcium channels in cell culture studies. 4'-Methoxyspiro[cyclopentane-1,3'-indolin]-2'-one is also an inhibitor of ligand binding to receptors, such as the beta-adrenergic receptor and serotonin receptors. The effect of this compound on protein interactions is still not clear.
