Product Information
Irinotecan is a chemotherapeutic drug used in the treatment of colon, lung and breast cancers. It is an anti-cancer drug that blocks the synthesis of DNA by inhibiting the enzyme topoisomerase I. Irinotecan-d10 hydrochloride (major) is a water soluble form of irinotecan which has been radiolabeled with the radioactive isotope d10. This form of irinotecan has been shown to be more toxic than other forms because it does not require activation by carboxylesterases in the liver, allowing for direct delivery to tumor tissue. Irinotecan-d10 hydrochloride (major) can be used to visualise cancer cells with bioluminescence imaging and can also be used to determine if tumor cells are sensitive or resistant to chemotherapy by measuring changes in expression of factor receptors.
